Bass Lakes

The great thing about bass is that there is a WIDE variety of lures that all work great.

My favorites are crank baits (mostly rapalas), and stick baits (senkos) wacky rigged, but I've probably caught at least one bass on every lure in the tackle box, and even on a handful of musky topwaters.

Are you talking smallies or largemouths? Honestly just put up a map of minnesota and throw a dart, go fishing where ever it hits. There is good bass water all over the state.

I personally don't believe lure selection is all that important. Just have an assortment of everything. I usually just go with what feels right at the moment. 1 bay might have chigger craw written all over it, but the next one might give me a buzzbait vibe.

Ok,, here is my opinion. There are very few bad bass lakes in MN.. I have really only found one.. and I will share it here.. Spider lake, in Chisago co.. Looks like a great lake.. but I have fished it 3 times, and still yet to catch a bass.. Outside that.. maybe Cass lake.. which is a great lake, and a decent bass lake, but can be tough.. The other 9,998 lakes in MN, are pretty darn good.

As for the magic lure. There is no magic lure... I have said it before, and will say it again..

This is the Deitz D quote for life.. "There is a bass in the water.... what in your opinion is the most efficient way to get it from where it is, to you... So that you can take a pict and put it back?"

There is no magic lure...there just isnt...any given fish will probably bite on 100 lures.. on any given day. Its a matter of you finding the easiest lure to get it.

You can cast a magic lure anywhere, but if there is not fish there to bite it.. Whats the point.. Find the fish... find a lure that will reach its strike zone.. fish that lure..

Spring can be feast or famine..

Swim jigs

Stick baits(senko)

swim baits

spinner baits

soft plastic jerk baits

hard plastic jerk baits

jigs

Dropshot

texas rigs

carolina rigs

stupid rigs.

You name it, depending on the situation, the weathe rat that exact moment.. could be the "magic lure"

I would lean most of Swim Jigs and soft plastic jerk baits, and stick baits the most as they are maybe the most versatile.. but if the wind comes up, spinnerbaits and or suspending rat-l-traps would catch more.
