when do we see valencia

i'd like to see how he fits in on the big league club. i keep reading he'll be here before the season is out, but i dont want that to be in september when they expand the rosters.

I'd guess that is the earliest it will be unless there are injuries that would bring him up sooner. He wouldn't get much playing time at this stage so think they are better letting him play full time in the minors. just like with ramos being demoted and butera staying up. butera probably isn't going to get any better whether he plays full time or part time while the thinking is that ramos has the potential to get better and playing regular is necessary for that development.

Except that Valencia is facing AAA pitching and has nearly twice the ABs.

I dont think that Valencia will turn out to be anything special. If he is lucky, he may get called up in sept. or an injury, but I dont forsee him being a starter on our team. I am thinking we will be trading one of our catchers this July, for a very good 3rd base prospect, or a already proven one. Possibly an even trade for Pedro Alvarez.

Although we have a player in our minor system that could someday be are long term answer for 3rd, he wont be ready for 2-3 years yet (Miguel Sano).
