I went out on Big Butternut (Luck),with my dad and a buddy last Sunday. We got into some really nice Crappie and Perch using waxies and minnows. Can't wait for the opener on Big Chetac & Red Cedar!! smile

I was out on Big Round on Thursday the 15th. We were chasing blue gills but fell short. We fished mostly the south shore line because it was extremely windy on the north end. The only fish we landed was a small LM bass that we caught out in the middle of the lake. We did attempt the north side of the lake but the fishing was difficult due to the wind.

Heading down to the folks house in Osceola for the weekend. Sounds like were going to head for "ceder creek" Anyone been down there fishing this year yet? As a kid we used to catch many silvers and a few eyes out of there. Otherwise , any other decent shore spots to try? Oh yeah one more thing. Anyone ever try the mill pond for trout anymore?

Went to a couple little lakes on Saturday. It was windy, and with out a shelter, had to keep warm, and back to the wind. Did end up catching some decent blue gillz on a real small lake north of hwy 8. Around mid afternoon went to Sand Lake, and marked fish, even missed a nice fish right away, but after that it was nothing doing. There were a lot of people out there fishing. So the pressure was very high. Any info from this lake? this was the first time I have ever been there. i know its deep, and the water used to be higher, it is a small lake though. I thought think there are "some walleye in there??""I am sure everyone out there though keeps when they catch....

I have fished sand a couple times with similar results. Though there are some nice sunnies in there.

As for walleyes, a buddy of mine used to live on the lake. Once in a great while (a few a winter), he would catch some nice fish. I think the biggest was 8 pounds. I personally wouldn't spend time targeting the eyes out there, but if your out crappie fishing at night it wouldn't hurt to toss out a tip-up or two..........

Good Luck this winter!

Haven't been out on Pipe yet, but the ice in the area is in good shape.

Most of the lakes I have been on have at least 14" of ice. Just use your head around traditionally bad areas (current, narrows, springs etc.).

You "should" be able to drive out there just fine. Just drill a few test holes to make sure..........

I've been driving on Balsam, Bone, Deer and others for a few weeks now with a 3/4 ton and wheelhouse.

Last year we did good on crappies up in North Pipe in the deep water. Ran into a decent day bite a few times too!
