Tred Barta

Just caught a show of him fly fishing a river somewhere COLD (snow everywhere), and it must have been filmed this winter.

He's currently wheelchair bound and paralyzed from the wait down due to health complications in 2009, and the guy is wading his wheelchair in a freezing river fly fishing for 24 inch rainbow trout.

I have to say I'm impressed with how he perseveres!

I agree. It's quite humbling to see him out still rippin' lips despite being paralyzed. True passion.

On a related note, it makes me feel like a sissy for all those potential times I've said "meh, I think I'm just gonna kick back at home today."

Oh wow, well I know that it was last may when he was paralyzed, so I figured the winter fishing around snowbanks for rainbow trout was this past season, but I suppose it very well could have been in south america. I tuned in a little late to hear where they were fishing.

Tred and larry Dahlberg are the best, I wish I could tagalong a be a camera man for either one of these guys on there adventures. These guys are my modern day IDOLS!

I am wrong, I saw an older show on Thursday, and after I made my post I saw the show you are speaking about. He is a trooper, but still a self indulgent man (he even says "like me or not") but do what he will, he will always rub me the wrong way. Some guys just talk too much and come across as he does and I have little time for them. Good Luck to Tred and hope he's on his feet soon.

He will not be on his feet any time soon...he suffered a spinal stroke and damaged his spinal cord.

Hard not to like Barta...talks alot of smack, most of wich is just entertainment and poking fun at himself. I think he's got a great show...it's a refreshing change from alot of the other shows on Versus.

Barta...he's the man.

Never been a fan of his because of his attitude and the bragging he did. But I watched the show you mentioned and the one after it fishing for sail fish in his wheelchair. Made me think and wonder if I could handle it like he is? I sure hope so but it would be SO TOUGH. He is not the same Tred though, you could really see it in the second show they played.

i feel the same i have never been a fan of his attitude, but seeing some of the stuff he is doing in a wheelchair not many people can do that thats for sure
