I have an 00 with 165000 on it. It has been a great truck! I know the history sice 02 and 40000. It had shocks and breaks done at about 75000, ignition switch and battery at 150000 and fuel pump and wheel bearing at 160000. No other problems what so ever. Even has the original plugs and wires in it! Started at -32 last winter no problem. Its been a great truck for me, plan on driving it many more miles.

My brother had one, and it was flawless for him other than a steering pump in the first 10,000 miles. He sold it at about 140k and still on original brake pads!!! They really fixed the brakes over my 98 brakes. Truck had good pep, but I still my 350 did better when towing, mine seems not to hunt for gears as much, but the 5.3 really can get it going nice and effortless. But the 01 and later have the tow/haul button which worked well. Good truck, you will like it.

Front wheel bearings, front axle seals, intake gasket, plugged injector(s) are the most common problems that come to mind. Distributor cap is another.

2001 should have a 5.3

No distributor cap on those, intakes are less common than the 5.7 and I have yet to put an injector in a 5.3.

Front ABS sensors had a TSB about corrosion, but thats a simple fix if you actually experience the problem.

Just my opinion, but I still think that body style was one of the better looking ones too!

I had a '00 for six years..biggest mistake was selling and buying another. I zero issues with that one. Had an 05--gave me problems, now have 06 and has given me grief also. Sounds like a pretty good truck with low miles.

Great trucks i have an 03 and an 06 the are strong running trucks, wheel bearings are know to be an issue, just did one on the 06, also if you tow much you may wanna look into a 2500hd, much better trans, the 4l60e will give out with alot of towing.

Oops, My bad. Must have had a ruff day at work. wink

They still have had there share of issues with the intake vacuum leaks.

I have also had a couple with the knock sensor problem (rear one). Updated RTV fix for that per/(TSB). Can't remember the number for the TSB. whistle

I bought a new 2001 Chevy truck that I run to 151,000 before it was totaled in an accident. Great truck. That era of Chev's is notorious for fuel pump issues. Mine went bad at about 90k. Other than that it was an extremely reliable vehicle.
