Jim Uran
Do you guys just use tape for yours? I've started one rod and had fun reaming out the split grips last night, those dream reamers really are slick attached to the end of a drill. I got a late start last night and that's all the farther I made it. Anyways, does simple masking tape work for seating your reel seat? Thanks
poorB
I make foam arbors when i use a reel seat on an ice rod. other wise i use tape if i dont have to build up too much
bemidjibasser
Drywall tape works better, as it has holes so the epoxy can work through the tape and adhere to the blank as well as the reel seat.
Jim Uran
Cool, I've got a couple rolls of mesh tape at home!!!
FishinFreaks
Ditto on the drywall tape. Allows for better adhesion to the blanks.
Fullmoon
I've found fiberglass drywall tape to be my favorite. I've done cork, and graphite arbors as well but the tape works great, is fast and cheap.
upnorth
If you decide to use any kind of tape, and yes most works well, but sure to totally saturate the tape all the way through and to the end with the epoxy of your choice to be sure you totally seal it. If not you will have problems later.
