Inthehollow
what to use for the ring. Anyone ever used a semi rim or any other ideas. thanks Bret
Barony
I used landscaping block that a buddy was looking to get rid of. It's above ground and about 2 blocks high. I tried to find a semi rim, but it was a little too small. Has really served me and my family well over the years, and the price was right! Stickjiggler
I used a half of a tracter tire rim and surrounded it with small retaining wall block to match the rest of my walls. Werks fer me. lol
lovetoicefish
Tractor tire rim. Dig a hole so the top of the rim is flush with ground level. I placed landscape blocks 2-high around the rim. Enjoy!
Inthehollow
when you say tractor tire rim do you mean farm tractor or 18 wheeler.
BottomPounder
We use the inside of a old wash machine. It works great because of all the holes in it let air in to keep the fire going!
lovetoicefish
ITH, farm tractor tire rim, approx 36" - 40" in diameter. Tough to find around here but if you can find one it'll work real slick. good luck!
sticknstring
Another option would be to have a local welding shop make one for ya out of steel. I had a 40" 3/16" wall made up last summer for around $85.
Walleye Guy
I agree with StickNString. Find a local welder. I had a 50" x 16 inch high made out of 3/16 cold rolled steel for $80. The guy smoothed all the edges and punched a ring of 1 inch air holes in it for me. It works great and will last ten times as long as the ones you can buy in a big box store.
