rfish
Are the prices to high or not as popular? I noticed the last two races the stands are not full.
Juneau4
Empty seats were beginning to show up at mid-season last year. TV.viewing has also dropped. Those are the reasons for some of the rule changes and the hyping of Patric and now letting them wreck each other with probable little or no penalty. Harmonica Bear
If I am not mistaken, they have been having trouble with empty seats for the spring Atlanta race and California race for several years.
HOF#13
Are the prices to high or not as popular? I noticed the last two races the stands are not full. The economy "su__", I mean "is poor", and what it costs to attend a NASCAR race is not cheap. On top of that, quite frankly, for the most part the racing "su__", I mean "is poor" as by lap 20 it is follow the leader. It does look like the action part of it may be picking up with the driver's "wrecking", I mean "policing", each other, and with the spoiler returning to the cars (I am hoping that improves the quality of the racing a bit).I think NASCAR / Tracks are see the $$$$ or lack thereof as well, and will do more and more to try to get the seats full...hopefully. fishinchicks
The tracks may run promotions, have ticket give aways, and what have you - but that is only a part of the cost. The hotels are soaking everyone they can, and fuel prices are high again, which puts an average race out of the affordability range for many right now. The best scenario would be to camp, but there are only so many spaces available.

Straight up on that! You can have a cheap Vegas vacation almost any time of year except race week. $99 flight - not a chance. Bargain hotel rates ($40/night) - not a chance. Try $1200 for 2 round trips and 4 nights hotel. $200 cheaper for staying an extra night! $250 for a pair track tickets (without pit pass). $500 spent in a blur on food, beverage, NASCAR apparrel and 1 Vegas tourist trap.Round up just a touch to say $2000 for one race weekend for 1 couple.Don't get me wrong, we were happy as all get out to be there but it's not something we can do very often.
