Musings on a March Sojourn

My 50D and 100-400 led my lab Gretchen and I on a short walk today. A few thoughts along the way:

Is this guy the big boy on the block? He was chasing another another and both had their neck feathers ruffled and tails spread:

Is the same pair of goldeneyes going to call this home this year?

Will any of this cattail's 100,000 seeds find fertile conditions to propagate?

Is she enjoying this walk as much as I am?

Can this be called the "Burning Bush"? Willows on the shore of Minnow Lake:

I am always brought into photographing these grasses on the shoreline of the wetland across the drive:

Soon to be nutrients for the next generation:

Is winter really being pushed away, or is it only a temporary respite?

What is this red oak doing in northeastern Minnesota?

Will this birch survive the blight that is taking so many from around my property?

A great 45 minutes on a beautiful March day!
