StrikeMaster Lazer Mag Express......Why wont it bite on its own?

Mike Stark

Question

so i have a lazer mag express 8in. last time i was out it stopped cutting on me...i could not even get it to cut when i applied down pressure....thought it might be the blades...got some new blades...it cuts but i have to apply down pressure. even once it get going if i let up on the pressure it just spins.

any ideas? and is applying down pressure on the auger bad for it?

thanks,

mike

That is a very good observation, and should help greatly to keep the cutting edges biting into fresh ice. Clearing the cuttings often in deeper ice helps a lot.

If you do not the build up will add a lift to the cut and float the auger in the hole on a bed of ice chips.

Mike, when you say spinning, is it that the engine RPMs are up but the shaft is not turning? Going from 8" to 10 " with the same power head could be that you have a gearcase designed for a 8" blade.

That increased load even means your carb will need to be adjusted to its optimum. If your not getting the max recommended RPMs to lock the clutch up it will slip. Hit me up at the Bash and I'll take a quick look and see what we can do.

The shaft is supposed to spin but you knew that. smile There is something I'm not getting. I will understand when I see it though.

I'll be there Fri and Sat of coarse. If you have that goofed up 8" shaft bring it I'll do something to it. Something you might like. smile

the blade spins on top of the ice and stops cutting...it doesnt do it everytime tho..that is the strange part...it make me think that it is user error..but iv never had this error before...never with my 8in...this is a 10in.
