Any 1 have problems with new Jiffy Gas Cap

247icefishing

Question

I bought a brand new Jiffy 8" Stealth about 2 weeks ago. It cuts like a dream, but the only problem is gas leaks out of the gas cap. I took it back to GM and they gave me a new gas cap but after a while the same thing happens if it's tipped on it's side for transport when it's tipped back up it leaks gas everywhere. I'm going to take it in I'm just wondering if anyone else had this same experience? Thanks for reading!

??? I've never had my SM cap leak, but I do pay attention to have the cap up when idling or traveling. Even still, the screw down vent hasn't leaked when sloshing the gas around. Are these self-venting caps that you can't manually close?

When I got my Strikemaster lazer about 7-8 years ago it had the metal cap and the darn thing leaked all the time when it was open, then you'd tighten the vent screw too tight, taking out the gasket. Junk!! I went thru two of them before they came out with the plastic cap with the vent screw in the middle. The thing never leaks, even if I leave the vent screw open!!!! I think I got it from the local small engine shop.

Check your local small engine shop, I'm betting that gas cap is universal, it doesn't matter if its Jiffy, Strikemaster, etc.

Let us know how you resolve the problem, I'm betting other people have the same problem.
