Was out fishing seen a guy in a suv throw out a can that had busted open in his veh. & was spraying all over. They were about 100 yds away from me on their way out on the lake. My first thought was to go over to their house & confront them. I sat their going over in my mind what to do,confront them, call a warden, is it worth their time? I decided I would just swing over & pick up the can. Another veh. comes out see's the can stops picks it up throws it off the road. Not impressed with what Iam seeing & questioning myself. I see a guy on his 4 wheeler driving around not going to fish but out picking up trash ,great to see. What would u do?

Well at least you witnessed a 50/50 out of 4 guys that noticed it, you being one that would pick it up. The odds are worst then that I'm sure! frown

I'm gonna take [PoorWordUsage] for this but here is how this would play out if it were me. I'm driving on the lake, my beverage is spraying all over my vehicle for some reason, mostly curse words would follow and the can goes out the window. I'm a litte peeved off and I continue on and go fishing. I would stop and pick it up on my way off the lake when my calmer mind had prevailed. I know I know I know it's not the right order of things, it's not right at all and it's probably what wasn't going to happen and even I wouldn't give benefit of the doubt.

We did fish a private lake this past weekend for 4 days. We left cans in a couple spots by one here by a hole one there and we knew it. Monday after we picked up all our gear and removed any trash along the way we circled the lake, the path and the areas we fished 3 times ensuring we got everything. We even knew we had one can out there cause we used it for target practice and finally found it where we had set it up just couldn't see it till we drove right up to it. Again not the best laid plan but it's how it goes I guess.

Understandable for them to toss it in the first place. Hopefully they would have picked it up on the way off the lake. Maybe they were hoping it would freeze by they time they got back to it.

If it was still there when I left I would have just picked it up on my way out and went home.

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
