NIBOWMAN
Have you looked at a late 90's Buick Lesabre or Park Ave. From what I see it would have everthing you're looking for. The 3800 engine is dependable, many over 200k miles, good fuel economy 25-30mpg, great ride, larger car for both safety and easily fit a big guy. Also they are so common every mechanic knows them, they are easy to work on and if you are so inclined used parts are cheap and readily available in case of a deer hit or transmision failure. jhol
Hey fellas. We had to request a new title to junk the old lumina but something happened when I went to my mechanic to tow the car home in the meantime, it started and ran all the way home. About two miles and the last few blocks it started to die out but it limped home. I guess I am not sure of the mechanics assesment now, is it truly the fuel pump or just a clogged filter or something else all together. So recap1993 chevy lumina 3.1 litre v6 246,ooo milesSometimes starts and runs fine, sometimes has trouble starting. Once running will die out after short distances. Seems to be not getting enough fuel when dies or fails to start. I guess what I thought is that when a pump went it really went and did not pump any fuel. Is it something all together different, or is it pumps will quit when it gets warmed up?? The shop checked the fuel pressure and it was insuffecient, do they check these before or after the filter?? Any advice would be great. Thanks
Ufatz
I gotta tell ya, something does not add up here. You say "the shop checked......etc." Well, if the engine is not getting sufficient fuel the SHOP should easily be able to establish WHY and repair/replace to get it running.Rather than have folks who can't get their hands on it try to figure it out why not just take it to somebody who knows THAT car and its engine.Of course if you do not want to spend ANY money on it I guess you'll just have to haul it to the bone yard.But...if all the rest of the car is decent, why not just get it running and save spending MORE money on another car?
