Walleye

Its hard to pick one bait or lure for walleyes all season. Overall I usually start with a jig and a minnow, once the water temperatures warm up, I will often start to lindy rig with minnows, crawlers and finally leeches, As the summer moves I start to pull spinners and crankbaits more. Then as fall comes back into the picture I will often switch back to a jig and minnow. Good luck Hope this helps out!

Hey Josh.

It's hard to answer a question about which one is best ---- it depends on where you are and when you're fishing there. Baits and presentations change throughout the year and something that works great at certain times won't get bit at other times. I fish crankbaits a lot, and even the crankbaits I use change thoughout the year depending on water temperature.

A good guideline to start with is if the fish are concentrated in a smaller area. like on a point or a mid-lake reef or along a weedline, then a slower presentation like a jig with a minnow or a leech, or live bait under a slip bobber, is probably the best way to go.

If the fish are spreadout like along a breakline or in a basin or following suspended forage, then trolling crankbaits is probably a better way to go.

Live bait rigs are kind of an in-between bait, you can fish them faster than jigs and slower than crankbaits, and they work well in a lot of situations.

I hope that helps, and if you have some more questions just ask away!
