Automotive adhesive

Question

Any one have advice on a good automotive adhesive?

I just found out that my wife hit something with our 04 Buick Rainier the other day and now the passenger side bumper is hanging down and the fog light and blinker assembly are dangling by the wires.

I removed the entire bumper cover and there is no structural damage to anything underneath but the plastic clip pieces and mount for the blinker that are on the cover itself are all busted.

The rainier is a pretty uncommon truck so finding a replacement is going to be tough and spendy.

Are there any really good automotive adhesives that will work to reattach the broken parts? The main support for the bumper in the middle of the truck is fine, its just the support on the outside edge and the blinker assembly I'm worried about.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Have you tried going to an auto parts store to see if you can get the plastic jobberdos that hold it in place? NAPA had agood selection when I was looking for similar repairs to my kids Imprezza. Zip ties can work wonders as well. My guess is that any adhesive you try is going to fail because the parts get a lot of vibration and the surfaces are pretty slick. Cold won't help either in terms of getting stuff like that to work.

3M makes a product called "Automix" available in several different formulas for repairing most any type of plastic used on cars. It is often used in body shops to repair broken bumper tabs with good success.

All the different types are listed on their site.
