pulleye16
Just bought I new Honda foreman FM500 this fall. Love the machine and the power it has in low gears. However, The beast is a son-of-a-gun to start this winter. I've heard they tend to be tough but I feel I'm going to wear out my starter. I also heard people will prime the machine (still have to find the primer on mine) and will manual start it with the pull starter and that seems to work. Anyone run into this problem and solve it????????Can I adjust anything to maske it easier to start or do I just have to "break it in" more???? Macgyver55
Unless it has been changed for 09 it should have a primer button. It is a small black button that is located near the bottom of the carb and faces to the left side (as you are seated). When cold, of after extended sitting time, simply push it a few times, until you feel resistance, choke it and push the start button. With the use of the primer starting will be greatly improved. Augusta
Mac is right, but beware, I have never pumped mine more than a few times, it doesn't take much. I have three Rubicons, and they all start ok during the winter, makes me wonder if your choke is set right, meaning, the cable lenght is correct. You might want to have your dealer check it out as long as it is under warranty.
slammer
Just hit the primer button once or twice. It should fire right away and then you can adjust the choke to keep it running. My 04 Rincon is a beast to start in cold weather if you dont prime it.
