Left
I started out retrieving with my right hand for both reels. After I started "running the boat", it was too awkward with all of this changing hands. I taught myself to switch.

i am left handed..
I cast my spinning reel with my right hand because when i learned how there were no left handed spinning reels.
I cast my baitcaster with my left hand and reel with my right.. zebco's and nucklebusters were all that way..
