Lakemaster software

Hello, any help would be great.

I just received my lakemaster chip and placed it into my garmin gps. Should i be able to zoom into any lake in minnesota and see depths and contours or do i need to be on the lake to see the details? i can see all the lakes, but when i zoom into them i do not see any detail.

I should mention, I'm in my home, not on any lake, just wondering if you need to be on the actual lake to see detail.

on my Lowrance, I have to go to my data menu and choose the map. otherwise it just uses the built-in maps.

Try finding the option to select the chip you've installed.

So are you able to find a lake, zoom in, and see the details? Even when you are not on that lake.

i have enabled the lakemaster map and disable the default map.

i can tell the lakemaster software is working because i can see a ton of lakes and if i zoom out far enough i can see it is only including minnesota lakes.

Is the chip a "garmin" lakemaster?

The only lakes that will have contours are the ones on their list. yes you can look at the contours from your house.

Yes, the software is a garmin lakemaster chip.

i have the dakota 20. I'm looking at Lake Minnetonka, i would think that would be on their list of lakes.

Like was said before, make sure your Lakemaster chip is enabled in the map area of your GPS. I have the Oregon and the Lakemaster chip and from home I can see the contours of lakes.

I don't know which unit you have but my Rino120 has a "pan" feature that will allow me to pan my map. While in panning mode I can mark waypoints to reference once on the lake. Check the features you have available. You may have this as well.

I can sit in my home, truck or anywhere and view the lake contours on the mapping.

I had the sam eproblem with my Oregon 400t. I got it to display by selecting the Marine or boating profile rather than a auto or hiking. I think the profiles define what is displayed but haven't had time to define exactly what turns the contours on/off.

Does anyone know if the road maps that are on the Garmin MN lakemaster chip are "routable" or do they just display?

What Garmin do you have? I have the Colorado 400i and had the same problem, but I noticed my profile was on Marine. I switched it to Automotive and all the lake contours came back. Not sure why that happend, but it worked.

I have my Oregon on automotive and can see the contours of the lakes. The map of lakemaster is not route-able, they just display.

Just wondering if u can mark waypoints to reference once on the lake with the garmin lakemaster chips?

Waypoints are stored separately in your GPS and have nothing to do with the Lakemaster software. The mapping software only provides a background picture.
