Anyone make it out to the big Extravaganza on Gull today? If so, how was it, did you catch anything?

I didn't feel like soaking in the rain so I skipped it this year.

I just looked at their web site- results are posted. The winner was a 6.26 pound walleye. I can't post the link due to forum policy but go to icefishing dot org to see pictures and results.

A buddy called from the contest and said it was snowing pretty hard at that time. Said his car had a half inch of ice on it this morning.

I planned on going, but the wind last night gusting to 35+ mph and the freezing rain helped me make the decision to keep my rear planted at home.

put on the rain gear and went, had a blast no hits for me but thats the way it goes.cant wait til next year........

I went up there for the first time and actually caught a Walleye. It wasn't quite big enough to make the top 150. It did rain on us for about the first hour and then turned to sleet briefly and then into snow. The worst part was the four or five inches of slush and water on top of the ice. A lot of people found out that day that their "waterproof" boots were not as waterproof as they thought. Overall it was a ton of fun and I will make it an annual trip for now on. It was also very funny to see multiple people step in open holes. To their defense it was really hard to see them...especially after a couple of barley pops. If you haven't been there...you need to go at least once. It is a very well put on contest.

My 4th year, miserable, wet, slushy, sleet snow, wind, and a ton of slush on the ice. NO bites for me, my son in law from Texas got one bite early and a real eye opener on northern weather!!! Had a great time as usual, you just have to take what the weather gives you and go on. The party the nite before was great, son in law won a small drawing prize so that was good. As usual, a well organized event, great fun, and always that chance to win a great prize. I plan to keep coming back until I'm too old or feeble to get out there. Everyone that likes to ice fish needs to do it once!!!

A bunch of us went. Had good winter stuff on, so we didn't get wet.

No one in our group caught a fish, but one of our tip ups with a big smelt did get hit. Didn't get it. Oh well. Had a blast anyways.
