HunterLee
My dad has one in a 204 and its a tack driver. Maybe you should try some different bullets, maybe a cleaning would help to. That is a big group at 200yds. Also check the little things, scope, stock, make sure the barrel is floating properly. If you are using a rest make sure the stock is one the rest not just the barrel. Also you wont get good groups with a heated up barrel. Also go to 100yds and see what you can do. Doesn't take much of a jerk or pull to get big groups at 200yds
gunmunky
Remember to use only use the tip of your trigger finger to the first joint for each shot. Rifle and shotgun techniques are quite different. You want to have a very even, smooth trigger pull unlike with a shotgun where you basically slap the trigger. Don't forget to clean the barrel and check the muzzle for any burrs that will ruin accuracy. Keep us updated on how it goes.

walleyes12
I have one in a .243, I broke the barrel in properly, beaded the action, and replaced the trigger. The key is to break the barrel in properly!!!! I do my own reloading so I was able to find a combination that my gun really likes.

Ray1
shoot a couple times then clean the barrel well. Repeat this for about the first 50 rounds or better and your gun should be broke in. Walleyes12 is right on with his, ive seen him shoot.
walleyes12
When I first got mine gun, I would shoot once, clean the barrel intill i shot about 50 rounds. Then I would shoot 5 times and clean my barrel, and I would do this till the first patch would come out clean. I think it took me about 100 rounds. I would also recommend replacing that xmark trigger, I personally didnt like it, I put a timney trigger in and reduced it to 2.25lbs.
tanman
well suppose i already put 60 rounds thru it and only cleaned it every twenty would it still be shooting an eight inch group at 100 yrds
Ray1
No you should be shooting better than an 8" group at 100yds even if you shot 1000 times and havent cleened it. LOL. Something is very wrong. Could it be your stediness. Have someone else shoot it once.
Trout26
I bought a 700 sps stainless in a 270 wsm had the same problem. The two screws that hold the stock on. On the bottom of the gun were loose tightned them up and shoots really well. Those stocks you get with them or junk. Need to buy a good one that would help too.
