Be careful on the rivers. Very careful. Like so careful, I wouldn't even try it except in places like the Croix in Bayport and Lake Pepin.

Where are you located at? I know there are a couple lakes in Eagan and St. Paul that were stocked with cats. Never caught one, but never really tried either.

first off welcome to the HSO family there are a bunch of great guys/gals on these forums.alot of good info here

Ive fished the Minnesota river with little to no luck for cats but I have caught eyes in the river thou..

As stated before be very very carefull on the river in the winter, one wrong step and the out come could be very bad.

I've been fishing the Horseshoe Chain near Richmond with some sucess. I havent really fished to many of the city lakes for kittys but I'm sure that with some perservirance and paitence they can be found there.

Dont forget to check out the COOL CATS 2010 at the Horseshoe Chain March 6th its a Get together for a bunch of us..

So the past week I went out twice on the croix at Bayport with no success. Bobbymalone you mention about some lakes around Eagan that were stocked with Cats, would you mind telling me which lakes? That would be great. If I cant find any lakes around the Twin Cities I might give Horseshoe Lake a try although its a bit of a drive. Do you guys know how safe the ice is out there and how the bites been?

Thanks

Anthony

Anthony-

Welcome to fishing minnesota!! I believe the lake he is referring is probably Fish Lake in Eagan. There are lots of cats in there. grin I have caught a few during soft water but haven't chased them when the water is hard. It's a pretty small lake so it shouldn't be to over whelming to start from scratch. Good Luck and let me know how you do...
