What I have always used is a crome daredevil and take the the hook off it and tie a piece of mono about a foot long and tie a ice fly on to that with a small minnow or wax worm. Thats what I have had my best luck with. And jig the hell out of it tell they come in.Depth I have had my best luck on sharp deep breaks and they come in at 1 to 10 feet below the ice. Hope this helps

+1

This past weekend I was catching them un-intentionally, they were hitting a swedish pimple and buckshot spoon pretty aggressively.

I imagine Grand Dad's technique would work quite well based on what I just experienced. We were targeting walleye on sharp breaks (28-32' of water) and would get them coming through from 15-25' below the ice.

On a side note - what's with everyone targeting tulibee all of the sudden? this is the 3rd topic i've seen on them today smile

custom jigs ratso or shimpo color doesn't matter. If you have rebaiting and want to get back down the hole as fast a possible. Have a treble gaph?? handy too; they stink and are hard to get out of the hole. was out last weekend, a party of 8 caught 100+. Party of 2 caught 14 yesterday.

Hey what did you do with the ones you took home, I only grabed 12 and smoked five of them, Only got to eat one and my sis bf took the rest, he even called me today to see if i had any left for him to take.

But yup that was good fishing, skiping out on fishing this weekend but I think we are going next weekend.

I second that to the letter (I have had my best catches on waxie vs minnows). This technique is the same exact thing I do. Graph is a must have...I find that fish school around mid-depth, so if you see marks, say 15' off bottom in 30' of water, they are likely tulibees and can be targeted easily with this flasher/ice fly combo.
