The iron-on patches work good, but my brothr in law found if you put a patch on both sides of the matrial it keeps them from peeling off as easy. The sicky sfuff must soak through the canvas enough that way and makes it bond better I guess. On the other hand if the hole is big enough I would find a tarp shop. Most of them will sew it up for you relatively cheap then u know it will last. Maybe even an upholstery place.

When I bought my Mankato house 12 years ago, I cut the floor holes in , folded it up and put it in my parents garage. First time settin it up out on the lake it had about 6 holes in it from mice, sucked. Some holes were about 6x8. Makato sent me canvas and glue to patch it. Used the house a ton since then, patches still holding strong. Glue is called tear mender, it's a fabric leather cement.

I had a mouse attack on my old Otter Lodge with dark green canvas. I found bulk canvas at W-mart for about $7/yd. One yard was more than enough. Trim any frawing from around the hole. Cut a square patch that provide at least 1-inch overlap.

To apply - Hot Glue Gun ($5.99)

Position the patch and tack it in the top two corners - just a little dab of hot glue on each corner.

Then flip up the patch and apply hot glue to the very edge of the hole on the orginal canvas. Work quickly so glue does not cool. Flip the patch down and apply pressure from both sides. If glue cools to quickly - use a clothes iron and block of wood.

To finish, apply hot glue to edges of the patch material.

My patch had stayed in place for over five years now.

Be careful of Shoe Goo. That stuff ages and will eventually harden and crack. I've used Shoe Goo on lots of things (even successfully patched a canoe in BWCA) but there are better choices for this application.
