Bobby Bass
Japan's Manabu Kurita, 32, now shares the record, making his catch on July 2 2009 at Lake Biwa, an ancient reservoir northeast of Kyoto. The fish measured 27.20 inches in length and 26.77 inches in girth.

jwmiller33
the guy was using a live bluegill... kind of not fair.. we can not do that legally here in MN
waterbound
Well if it's not fair for him to use a live bluegill I suppose it's equally unfair for him to fish somewhere that a largemouth can grow to 20+ pounds...just saying...

riverrat56
Plenty of places in the US it is legal to use live bluegills for bait. Your reasoning of it being unfair since we can't do that in MN doesn't hold water because we can't grow 20lb bass here either so there is no chance of breaking the record.Congrats to the angler, thats a heck of a fish! Bassinbob84
JwmillerI'm assuming he replied that because you said it's unfair he can use a bluegill for bait and you cdnt in mm. We all know mn will never hold a world record bass. An ignorant comment followed by a sarcastic post. If it is legal where the fish was caught it's a legal fish.correct? This fish Is the true world record I feel. Perry's was a hoax and this is still heavier just not heavy enough to completely surpass according to igfa rules. jigginjim
From what I under stood it tied the record. Couple years ago some guys had a big bass in Cal. the was close, they had caught it several times. By the time it deid it would hve been a record. It was found died, and did surpass the current record.
Bassinbob84
It beat the bogus record but not by enough to declare it a solo record. I think it has to be beaten by 4oz ( I might be mistaken) to be undoubtedly the record.
