Has anyone used a Dobyns Rod?

I had the chance to borrow a rod made by Gary Dobyns last year. (He is a big name on the bass circuits out west.) The rod was fantastic! However, it was on the spendy side.

I just came across a site that indicated Gary has a second generation version of his bass rods at a price point that I can afford! These newer rods have a lower price, but the components have been upgraded. (You don’t hear that too often.)

The original rods were “Champion” series and the new ones are “Savvy”. The Savvy series are supposed to retail between $150-$170. They have Kigan guides with stainless steel frames and alconite inserts.

Has anyone else ever tried one? I want to find someplace I can buy the newer models locally.

Dobyns rods are awesome. They rank up there with the best of them. You wont be able to find any of these locally though. Only way to get one is to order online.
