MANKATO, MINN.— Outdoor television star Michael Waddell likes to have fun and that's exactly what he and everyone else are in for at the National Wild Turkey Federation's Minnesota State Chapter Awards Banquet on Jan. 16, in Mankato, Minn.

Banquet doors open at 5 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Center, located at 1 Civic Center Plaza. The family event will have door prizes and raffles featuring guns, outdoor gear wildlife art and more! Waddell will be attending the banquet and be available for photos and autographs throughout the night. Also attending will be George Thornton, NWTF CEO.

NWTF National Spokesperson, Michael Waddell, will join NWTF volunteers in Mankato, Minn., for the Federation's Minnesota State Chapter Banquet on Jan. 16.

To give parents a break, a kids-only pizza party will take place simultaneous to the banquet in a separate room.

Preceding the banquet will be all-day events featuring a sport show, seminars and the North Star Open Calling Contest. The pre-banquet events begin at 9 a.m.

Successful local banquets are the lifeblood of the NWTF's Hunting Heritage Super Fund, which is used for conservation projects and outreach programs in Minnesota.

Tickets cost $35 for NWTF member and $65 for non-members. Both ticket prices include dinner and entry into all door prizes and the non-member ticket price includes an NWTF membership and a one-year subscription to Turkey Country magazine.

As an NWTF National Spokesperson and host of Realtree Roadtrips and Bone Collector television shows, Waddell travels the country proclaiming his love for the outdoors and his support of the NWTF.

"The NWTF's volunteers are not only dedicated conservationists but they also know how to put on a fun event," said Waddell. "I tell people around the country about all the great work the Federation does for wildlife and hunters and, anytime I get the chance, I like to stop by and thank everyone. Their hard work helping restore turkey populations and habitat is the reason that myself and so many others can travel almost anywhere in North America to hunt wild turkeys."

Through dynamic partnerships with state, federal and provincial wildlife agencies, the NWTF and its volunteers have helped restore wild turkey populations across the country, raised and spent more than $306 million, and conserved nearly 14 million acres of habitat for all types of wildlife.

The Federation also works to increase interest in the outdoors by bringing new hunters and conservationists into the fold through special outdoor education events and its outreach programs: Women in the Outdoors, Wheelin' Sportsmen, JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) and Xtreme JAKES.

Founded in 1973, the NWTF is dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of the hunting heritage. The NWTF has thousands of local chapters in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
