I have 2 spots broken open in the front corners of my sled from towing it with a snowmobile. They are about 4" long and as much as 1/2" wide and snow gets in there and makes problems for me.

I tried filling them with epoxy when it was warm and it just falls off the first time out. Has anyone repaired these before? Is there a plastic made to melt to fit out there?

Sandwich it with alum or some hardened plastic, putting silicone between it, using bolts or rivets, I would use bolts and nylock nuts and big washers. Then make sure to back the area where you attach the hitch to with some alum - i used some old shower door frame, from side to side of the tub.

Do you have the Hyfax runners on your sled, and if you did put them on would it cover those areas? There is no glue that will stick to this kind of heavy plastic.

I am looking into runners. I didn't know they made em. I think a combo of both your ideas will satisfy my problem. Thanks guys!

You might check a local auto body shop as some of them have the ability to 'weld' plastic. With exterior parts on vehicles, that's pretty much cash in their pocket for them rather than buying, painting and installing a new part for just a crack. What can it cost to check? Phred52

I had the same problem. Go buy some GOOP. It is like silicone but will stick to anything and will last for years. the cracks were at least 1/2 inch wide and it took care of the problem. I eventually put on the runners.

I got my runners from Clam today. You can get them direct from the Hamel location. I got a Yukon but others were sold out!

Runners are on. Would recommend a second helping hand for tightening bolts. Took me 2 hours to install those myself. Skirting and bulkiness were constant problems reaching around. Looks nice and should help a lot. Plan to goop up in the off season.
