Frabil Ice Hunter series Rods

Anyone try the new Ice Hunter series of rods by Frabill? The "Paul Nelson" rod for trophy walleye and northern pike is my new favorite walleye jigging rod. It's 32 inches long and has the perfect action for jigging spoons and jigging minnows.

i have bought 4 new frabill rods for this ice season, and i love the rods.. the reels on the other hand are giving me a heck of a time. anyone else having problems with the reels? whenever it gets cold out and the reel gets cold, it freezes up and is almost impossible to reel in and the reverse lock on the reel gives way, so the reel can reel in or out without anything stopping it. i thought about callin up frabill and giving them a piece of my mind. i bought FOUR of these new rod reel combos this year and everyone of them SUCKS

When I saw the Eric Haataja 38" medium/moderate at Fleet Farm last month, I bought the last four they had.

I am SUPER impressed with the rod for dead-sticking greenbacks and trout... super slow tip, moderate through the last third and then right into solid backbone by the most forward guide.

I agree...very good system rods. I carry the two mentioned as my Go-2 Rods for most walleye fishing now. I have plenty of others to play with, some are exclusively made for open air fishing, and others for tight quarters fishing..but I'm liking the new Frabill rods and the reels.

After your post, I went home and put my Ice Hunter Series rods on my deck. At 12:30 AM when it was -4, I went out and tried them all. Yes, they were just a little stiffer to crank. Not enough to make me think anything about it though. The anti-reverse never failed on any of them. Do you have the Ice Hunter Series?
