Anyone use a LCD fishfinder on the ice?

Getting started with ice fishing here, and was wondering does anyone use an LCD finder on the Ice? I dont know if I can afford a Vexilar or Marcum flasher right now, but I do have an extra Lowrance X52 that I am not using currently. Been thinking ab out throwing a 20deg ducer on it and just using that for ice fishing. Any thoughts? Problems? thanks.

Yeah, that will work great. I used an old humminbird mounted in a wood box for a few years before I could afford to buy a 'proper' ice machine.

The easiest way to get it on the ice is to get an ice transducer, a vexilar float, and pick up a blue box. Should be good to go for under $100.

I use the Lowrance Ice Machine 67X. I've not had a problem with the LCD screen in cold weather. I really like using the standard graph screen for ice fishing as it just makes more logical sense to me than the flasher dials...

Exactly!! That's why the showdown 5.6 is a great unit.
