Strikemaster Powerhead

I have an old Strikemaster auger with 10.25" bit.

It doesnt compare to the new augers out there. Can I simply buy a new powerhead and put it on the existing auger? If so, is there any price savings to do so?

i would upgrade to the lazer bit 8" unless you need the 10", unless the motor is running rough, but if thats the case try burning seafoam through it and running amsoil. I upgraded from the chipper blade to the lazer a few years ago and love it

I really like fishing through the big hole. It is just so slow cutting compared to newer ones, motor just doesnt have enough power to turn the auger at much speed.

You can't buy just the powerhead unless you happen to find a private party the would be just selling the powerhead. If you like the 10.25" hole(which is the chipper style unit) then just look at buying one of the new strikemaster Magnums with the solo engine. It would be just under $400 for a complete new Auger

As long as you stay with the 10.5 chipper your drill speed will be slow no matter what powerhead you have. You probably have the SM Mag 3 49cc engine. That baby has to be perfectly tuned to turn a 10.5 chipper. So keep the engine in good running order and have a sharp blade and center point.

Frank, that is what I have! I replaced the bit, but not the center point. Do you sharpen those?
