Spark Plug Boot

I tuned up my SM Mag 2000 today and replaced last years plug with a splitfire. I noticed that when putting the boot back on the plug I cannot feel a click like it is snapping in place.

The boot fits, but without clicking into place, it would seem that the boot could vibrate off.

Is the boot shot already? The darn auger has only been used 1 season.

Is the boot designed to have the nut screwed on the top of the spark plug, and it is off? Or visa versa?

It appears to be designed to be a screw on...by the arrow on the boot it shows you a direction to go with it.

When I put the new plug in, I twisted it in the direction of the arrow. You can still pull it straight off.

Perhaps I am dolt for just recognizing this...but I suppose what that means is no click, eh?

If it fits real loose just give it a little squeeze with a pliers and snap it back on. It just has a circular little metal connector inside the rubber and it is probably just spread open a little too much. Not a big deal. I wouldn't waste any money on a Splitfire plug. It will for sure run much better with the original equipment plug.

i agree, dont waste money on fancy plug, get oem and keep a spare. also you can put dielectric grease in the boot to keep moisture out and keep a good seal. also use some anti seize on the threads of the plug
