Ice Conditions

Plan to drive up to White Bear next weekend...is the ice thick enough for a big 4x4? Would appreciate approx. ice depth...has to be 16" for me. I 'spose it's a little too soon for that, though..ice in SE Mn. backwaters/Pepin WAY too thin...thanks in advance!

Yeah, it's going to be a bit early for you. You might not see 16" until mid-January this year. Aerjer's sticky looks like there is between 6.5-10 right now on White Bear.

With the temps moderating this weekend, it may take some time to build some good ice.

7 inches of ice today in front of the VFW.

Definitely wouldn't be driving out any time soon. Was there this weekend, like others said about 7 inches in shallow water. About 4-5 in the deeper water.

I'll be heading out again on Tuesday, probably won't be a whole lot more ice then than there was Saturday.

OnAFly..Plan to head up to White Bear early AM on January 2nd...hope it's thick enough, 'cause we're coming! Hope to see 14-15".

Heck I live north of Brainerd and we only have about 8 to 9 inches here.

Looks like we're in store for a deep freeze from the day after Xmas on, you might get really lucky.

I'll probably be walking out until late Jan or so. That's just me.
