Mauer makes the cover of MLB 10 "The Show"

Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer wrapped up his 2009 season with a Most Valuable Player award, but the accolades keep rolling in.

Sony just announced Mauer will be the cover star of the forthcoming "MLB '10: The Show" video game.

The video game will appear on store shelves next March, just before spring training begins.

"I'm truly humbled to be chosen for the cover of MLB 10 The Show, a honor that has only added to a special year for me," said Mauer. "It's a dream of every sports fan to be on the cover a video game, so to have the chance to work with a leading franchise like The Show is really a thrill."

Among the new features for of the 2010 edition of "The Show" is "Catcher Mode," which allows players to call the came just like a catcher, to select pitches and be a field general.

Mauer was just named the 2009 American League Most Valuable Player.

Players previous featured on the cover of the game have been Dustin Pedroia, Ryan Howard, and David Wright.
