skis on portable

I don't want to spend the money on hyfax so am wondering if anyone has tried installing a set of downhill skis on the sled. I was also thinking of putting a 2X4 in between the sled and skis to get a little clearance for easier pulling across the snow.

I built a sled out of 2x2's and ski's for my mankato house. Works like a million bucks, pulls very easy, also has about 8" of clearance.

The only problem with lifting it up to high is that your canvas may not go all the way down to the ice when you flip it over and you may end up with a good cold gap in the front! Just something to watch for!

Mr. Wizard, I've got a sled with skis I made a few weeks back. It's great! I'll try to get some photo's up here in the next few days when I make it out again.

I picked up a pair of ski's and then attached steel footings and conduit. Then a few planks of plywood to stabilize. She pulls like a dream and can be de/constructed in a few minutes. Total cost was around 30 bucks.
