First ice Walleye ..not a bad start to the season!

Headed out with friend Darrin from Johnson Outdoors today on the Red River north of Selkirk Manitoba for our first walleye trip of the year and it was well worth it. We managed 7 good fish, 1-25 incher and one hog ..just over 31.5 inches. we also marked a ton of fish but they were very lethargic and they wouldn't chase our baits.. they just sat there staring at our baits mocking us!.If we moved our bait they sunk to the bottom. It was very strange!Fished in 25 feet of water, set the tranducer 1.5ft in front of us to get a good read of our lures. AGAIN the Whistler jig tipped with a salted minnow was the choice lure of the day! By the way this hog had a 18 inch girth! wink
