Strike master auger wont idle

Ive got a 2hp strike master auger that wont idle. starts and stays running if I leave the choke on about half way. die with the choke off. had the carb rebuilt last year and didn't help.

any suggestions

I just started mine after clearing the driveway last night. Ran when I babysat the throttle but died when I took a swig of beer. I ran the [PoorWordUsage] out of it and after 10 minutes it was sounding like last winter. I left it sit and idle for another 10 minutes after that.Will check it this weekend. I hope it was the build up that needed to be burned off. I will keep you posted.

Sorry to say it still sounds like you have some carb or fuel flow issues. When it's halfed choked it's running richer but when you take it off it gets a lot more air then running leaner. Some how either the needles aren't adjusted right, your tank is not venting air in, you have an air leak at the carb head gasket, or your diaphram in the carb may have a hole in it. By the way do you know any Nahan's living out by you?

Is this drill a 07 or newer with tecumseh? They changed the carbs to fit tighter emissions. My opinion is to take it to big lake and the boys there will tune it up and i have heard for no charge! A few guys on here have done that now. My brother inlaw has the exact same issue with his and mine is an 05 that will idle forever so that is most likely the case with yours.

Starving for fuel which could be a few reasons why.

First check to see if the gas cap is venting. Check for air leaks in the fuel line. As said earlier try and keep it running for a while, the diaphragms dry out and sometimes it takes a while for it to pump fuel and purge air.

Next would be a carb cleaning and new diaphragms, needle and seat.
