DonBo
That is a very shallow body of water and I don't doubt there is some safe ice out there. There is however open water on the western part of it year round, I'm not sure...springs? Bubbler?
shnelson
I hope there's more than 3"! Most of the lakes around me have yet to lock up completely, I'm thinking I wont be heading out a while at this rate.
minnbowhunter
Its's usually got an airater in it to keep it from freezing out, probably has'nt been put out yet. I remember seeing orange snow fence around the open water.
bgreen82
yeah they wouldnt have the aerator on yet i wouldnt think. the deep part of the lake is maybe 16 ft, and that is a very small portion of the lake. even walking out to that spot it gets to maybe 7 all the way out. did you see any flags up? Jeremy airjer W
I was telling Muc33 and perchpounder at the ice show that somebody will be out there on Monday!Battle has been frozen over for 4 or 5 days. Its max depth is 10' and with the water being low its about 8 feet right now. Its one of the first lakes in the metro to see foot traffic in the winter. They won't turn on the aerators for a while yet and the spot will be abundantly and obviously marked.
StillwaterAaron
DNR say 14 feet and two years ago I found 16 feet. That lake is great early ice. The water clarity is 8 feet so you can sight fish in most of the lake. The air starts pumping Jan 1st most years. I was on it when it was started up and it is very nerve racking!
