gill man
What makes the Nils Master power augers so fast? Is it that the blades are so efficient?I see the Tanaka motor is only 1.3 hp, which is smaller than just about everything out there. Does this motor have a lot of torque, which lets it turn an agressive blade angle?Everybody talks about how fast the Nils Power augers are, but how fast are they really? Will they still be faster than the new 3hp Pro series Strikemasters with the Solo engine?I know they are all fast enough, and it's getting to the point now where they are all pretty close, but I'm just wondering. One plus to the Nils is that it is lighter than even the Strikemasters (other than the 4 stroke with plastic flighting, which I wouldn't be interested in).Just curious and interested!P.S. Does anybody have any video of a Nils Master Power auger cutting holes? Would just like to see how they cut and what they sound like. gill man
18 inch Crappie
They are fast because they use a 6" auger bit. Put a 6" bit on any motor and it will be fast, you are cutting less ice.
Esox_Magnum
CAn't help with a vid, but they are quiet, you can talk to your buddy at full RPM drilling, DTRO drills with 1 hand with his, I can't so he's the better man LOL. I think the blades have alot to do with their speed and also the gearing. I have never had mine even bog going through 30" Did get it stuck once but with the locking transmision just flip a lever and it locks the auger so you can turn it back out. Might find vids on a popluar video site.

croixflats
The blade makes it fast mostly. The gearing has a lot to do with it also. The tanaka moter has a lot of torque, I dought the 3 hp has any more torgue than the Tanaka. Last year when I hit a nasty patch of sand and six holes later I had to press down pretty darn hard to get it to cut and that moter did not bog down a bit. That power head is incredible.
