Shooting a Canon EOS (Rebel)with a grip. How long should the batterys go before they need to be charged. Twice now I have got less than 2 days use and I had a dead camera.

Wayne are they BP-511's? How old are they? What is the mA rating on them. Some models of cameras are different but with two in the grip you should see at least 500-800 shots. The older Rebel's were not as good on battery life.

So many variables, are you using flash, outdoors in cold weather, continuous shooting, age of battery, all and more come into play. Go on line to SterlingTek and order a couple of replacements, they are great batteries, usually more mA and you can't beat the price. I always have 2 sets of extra batteries for all my cameras except the 7D. That thing has unbelievable battery life.

The batteries are canon NB-2LH battery packs, two years old and an mA rating of 720. I just ordered a couple of spares.

Good plan. Those are fairly low mA and at the price they are you would be well served with a couple of extras.

Good advice. The Rebel I just parted with used to eat through batteries like crazy.

My 30D seemed to last a long time between batteries, but my 50D sucks the life out of them. Of course, I'm sure the larger LCD doesn't help. Also, the more chimping you do, the faster they will drain.

If anybody uses double a's I use the NUON 2500 recharchables from Battreies Plus.. 4 in the camera and 4 spares in the bag all the time. The NUON slow charger works great and these batteries really hold up.

You're also writing 15 Mp files to the card, nearly twice the file size as with the 8 Mp 30D.
