reddsixx
This is my year for learning how to walleye fish. The set up I'm planning includes a fluoro leader. Would I then use a No Knot Fas-Snap or similar to change out jigs? I've used them a few years ago but they were the smallest ones for pan fish. I didn't like them as they were too small for my sausage fingers. Any suggestions?
juicey_jroc1
Sweadish pimples (silver with gren glow) work good, i like pretty much all of northland tackles jigs especially the buckshot ones and rapala minnow jigs are super hawt. I would suggest tying jigs if you use a clip your gonna lose alot of the feel in the line while jigging, walleye can be super finiky and alot of times the bite is extremly light so you will need to be able to feel the smallest of bites. Ive caught some large eyes on a super light bite. good luck
Learning2Fish
With the sweedish pimple and others like it the Kastmaster i believe. Take off the ring and treble hook. Then put a little line between a single hook and have it act more as a flasher. Just a little something different to possibly try. Another good one one for me is the "Gem N eye" the orange and green seem to be the best. The glow in the dark ones probably would be good just never got the light to use on them.Good luck and have fun fishing is the main thing. maxx rpm
My suggestion as you are new to eye jigging, is to keep it very simple. I do not use a leader. I also use 1 lure 99% of the time. I would say to get a good known walleye lure and tie it directly to your line. There is often a general time frame to jig. Dont start too early or you will tire out, and spend your whole time changing lures-you will not catch something that is not there or hungry. Eyes are not like crappies, although you can have fast action, you will not catch one every couple minutes for several hours. Patience is key--location is essential--and timing brings it all togather. Then have some success, gain some confidence in that lure, then you can experiment. It can be a very short window of opportunity that comes by, and if your line is out of the water tying on lures, you may miss out.
stifler51
I would suggest tying jigs if you use a clip your gonna lose alot of the feel in the line while jiggingclips arent all bad, if u use a small one with a swivil further up the line fishing a chubby darter, the bait will have a lot more natural action. Also other options would be to tie a loop style knot with both darters and jiggin raps
gritsnham
From my personal experience besides trolling snap swivels reduce fish catch alot. I always tie directly to the line in my opinion. Just buy some spoons to start with (a flasher will help alot also) and get out on the ice and learn. It gets addicting once you get into some good eyes enjoy!
