Any other Mississippi River Spearers here?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and though this would make a good first post. Just curious if there are any others who spear on the Mississippi. I'm in central MN, I have been spearing since i was a kid and spear almost exclusively on the Mississippi. Hoping to try some lakes this year too

I have tried it a few times in the past with no luck. But I might try it again this year.

first of all welcome to the site and these guys are loaded with info and are always willing to share.

I uesd to spear a couple of rivers by big lake but not the mississippi and the old timersa that showed me those spots said that they speared it and had done very well but this was back int he day I'm sure that it is still great spearing and I might give the river a try this winter if we ever get ice.

most important of all spearing the rivers is being aware of the ever changing ice because of the current.

Where im at its illegal, even the the the darned part of the river I was on is practically cut off from the river and called Bartlett Lake.... I saw 8 northerns in a 3 hr period when I was there surrounded by guys with tip up.......

I'm surprised nobody has much luck, where i am must be special I see at least 3-5 fish a day, and last year the last 2 weeks of season i passed by 80% of the ones i seen, hoping for the big one. Gotta watch out for the muskies though seen at least one a week last year.

what strecth of river you hitting my guess is the Sartell area

I"m a little north of that by Royalton, where the river is really wide.

I have spent some time spearing on the sippi,lots of small ones that annoy my decoys. There are some monster muskies in there too! I am thinking about trying it on the east side of the river closer to the dam, ice permitting. Any Thoughts?

Has anyone ever tried to spear the Mississippi below Pepin toward Wabasha?

I have never speared on the river, im not a fan of it! There is alot of guys that do, and will chim in here!
