coombia21
does anybody have one of these motors, how long will it last on a full charge and what boat do you have it mounted onthanks dan
gunflint
I bought one this spring and have been using it hard all season. I wouldn't buy another one. It runs fine and has plenty of battery life on my 16 Crestliner but the mounting bracket is a huge disappointment. If you turn the head around, which has been common on transom mounts for years the motor "walks" right out of the water. My son-in-law has the same model that I do and his does the same thing.I have been in contact with Minn-Kota about this and they said not to turn the head or to buy a 24 volt mounting system. You lose at least 50% of your power and cut your battery time in half by not turning the head. I wish they would put this advice in their literature. I also don't think I should have to buy a heavier duty bracket. I am a big supporter of Minn-Kota but they dropped the ball on this one. If I had to do it over again I'd spend an extra $70 or so and get the Vector.
Casey Sunsdahl
Minn Kota has always used the plastic bracket on the 12 volt motors.. and when you turn them around, if you don't baby it, they will skip in the bracket.easy fix. not Minn Kotas faultI had only one in for repairs this year and they seem to be very good motors.. Dave at Fuel and Food in Tower might even have one left he would sell cheep.. Check it out when your up here Dan.The Vectors by the way come in more often for repair.. gunflint
What's the easy fix? They are good motors. This is my forth Minn-Kota and I will buy more. Just not the Traxxis. I bought a new 55 Maxxum several years ago, spun the head and never had an issue with it.
Casey Sunsdahl
have the metal mounting bracket put on
gunflint
That's my point. If I would have known that I would need a different mounting bracket I would have bought a different model. Like I stated I like Minn-Kotta and will continue to be a customer.coombia21 asked for opinions on the Traxxis and I gave him mine. That being said, I imagine a lot depends on your planned usage. I fish a lot and I back troll a lot when I fish. even in winds of 15 to 20mph. For a transom mount used in everyday fishing the Traxxis would work fine. For heavier duty fishing I'd keep the bracket issue in mind.

coombia21
thanks about how long will it last on a single charge
Casey Sunsdahl
there are a lot of factors.. I have a formula somewhere but I would guess..just a guess..6-10 hours
Northlander
Ya I would say on mid range use you should get around 8 hours give or take a few. If your in the upper ranges it could go down to 6 or 7 if in low ranges you could go all day.
PerchJerker
thanks about how long will it last on a single charge That depends on three things - one is how much you use the motor, as higher power and starting/stopping the motor will drain the battery faster - another is how "big" your battery is, ie. how much reserve capacity it has (smaller, cheaper batteries with less reserve capacity will run down faster) - and the final thing is the condition of your battery as older batteries and those not maintained properly lose their reserve capacity and run down much quicker. But like Casey and Steve said, 6-8 hours should be doable and even longer is possible.
