Shoot2Kill
How many of you are still out chasing teeth? With these rediculously warm temps I can't help but think I need to take the boat out a few more times.
JRedig
Not so warm anymore, was out last night and it was COLD, planning on the same habits as summer. Couple weeknights each week and weekends out till the lures bounce! Quality game now, not so much quantity anymore. Funny though, a week ago the same pattern that has been producing since June put some fish in the boat. 30+ degree temp swing and nothing has changed, gotta love dumb fish! JimBuck
I've been getting out once or twice a week. I've had a pretty slow Fall so far. I love fishing this time of year.
jclund
I hopefully will be fishing until the end of the month, or when my wife says enough is enough. It has been a great fall. A little slow last weekend, but hopefully it will pick up with the crappy weather coming.
cjac
Fished last weekend and woke up Monday with an angry back. So, boat is winterized and off to storage, while I am on a steriod cycle to reduce inflammation and off to the crack-back tomorrow to see if things can get back in alignment. Scary part this is identical to the timeline two years ago which led to back op #2 for me. My point in posting is not a "woe is me", it's a "be smart" message to the rest of you. If things hurt, don't press it just for another hour on the water. The cold temps make things even more suceptable to tweaking, pulling, popping, throbbing, etc. Good luck to the rest of you...... Esox_Magnum
Couple more weeks left for me to. No quit untill season closes or ice forms. Kinda fun to drill holes in the morning and cast from the boat in the afternoon.
jsondag
I've been on dry land since halloween with a broken ankle - Did sneak out yesterday ( Don't tell my wife) but no luck.
nater
Made it out to Mille Lacs on Veterans day with nothing to show for it. Hit a bunch of reefs but no fish were interested. Looks like it'll be the last time I hit the water this year.Just watch it out there, the spray from 42 degree water gets your attention! kklund
i got out for a few hours between bowhunting wed. and thurs. my gameplan was pretty basic. drag donkey suckers along breaklines 8'-20' deep. i brought a muskie virgin along for the ride. he ended up with a 46"er the first hour out. twenty minutes later i stuck a fat 47"er!!!! good times! thursday was pretty much a repeat of wed. we had a mid 40s. come up and chase the sucker around the boat, the wind was howling so he lost intrest. twenty minutes later i had a 49" slob t-bone my sucker at boatside! my biggest of the season. betweeen catching big skis and watching the deer chasing each other round and round it was pretty sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! HugoBox
I've been out between duck hunting. The ducks haven't been too cooperative so far though - think I have as good a chance at a bluebill following a DCG as coming into my dekes. I'll be out on WB early on Sunday - I'm thinking of doing the opposite of what the books say - lately I've seen fish where they "shouldn't be."Good luck and be safe. 50inchpig
Bout time you get a couple more in the net, Box, now that the flesh wounds have healed and all. You're safer hunting with the American Society for the Blind than you are musky fishing
goldie11
went out on hariet and only moved one fish. hope to get out a few more times
FYGR8
I will continue to video troll as long as the weather is decent. Looks like the forecast for the WI. gun opener is 40's so I will video troll alone as all the muskie guys I know hang up the rod for rifle. HugoBox
So changing things up a bit worked out well. Night trolling with a Believer (shallow setting) at 3.5 MPH over 16 FOW was good for two mid 40-ish fish. If it was one fish I'd chalk it up to just plain dumb luck (which is often the case in my boat) but since a couple came in very similar spots on the exact presentation I'm sort of thinking I may have to change some thoughts as the end of the season winds down. kklund
i couldnt resist getting out one last time..... same tactics as last week, drag big suckers along breaklines 6'- 15' fow.i took out a buddy who caught his personal best last week with me.. he won the coin toss and 30 min. in he had a dandy 48"+ t-bone his sucker. after battling the fish for a couple minutes it threw the hooks just out of net range...he was bummed! i was up next, we had 2 really nice upper 40s chase the suckers round and round but didnt commit. then it happened.... i stuck a beauty 49" pig! quick battle and it was in the net.. high fives and time for the release. it didnt go very good. my partner ended up with one of the hooks buried in his trigger finger!!!!!! couple quick pics and on our way to the hospital... Lare Pie
Man, what a fall this year! Caught and put some people on some nice fatties. Hope to make it out tomorrow. The last 2 times I've lost fish, so I'm hoping to bounce back and put some in the net.
Shoot2Kill
Finally got back out yesterday for the whole day with a fellow FMer, very cool morning - foggy, drizzle, the lake was glass....we raised 7 but not one of those stupid fish would eat! Pretty dang cool being the only muskie boat on the entire lake. I thought I had surpressed the need for teeth until yesterday...now it's all I can think about again and am going to try to go on Sunday before the season closes. haha. These fish are like crack.
