tbreuhl
I always rifle hunt in the Ely area with family - tradition. This year, me and a couple friends decided to get muzzleloaders so we could hunt together for deer. If I get a deer in Ely (a buck), can I still get a muzzleloader license in Dec and get another buck in the same area or another area?I read through the regs and can find things that states that I can buy both but it is specific to each individual area whether I can take a deer in both. I was planning on hunting 116 in Ely for rifle next weekend and will decide whether we will hunt 282 or 116 for muzzleloader in Dec.Can someone point me in the right direction to make sure I do nothing wrong???? Neighbor_guy
The way I understand it, you are only aloud ONE (1) buck per year regardless of how you shoot it. Ely is a lottery zone, so you are only aloud one deer in that zone. If you tag one with your regular rifle licence in that zone, then you may hunt another DOE in a managed area. If you do not tag a deer in Ely with your rifle, you may still hunt there in an attempt to get one (a buck) with the muzzy.Believe it or not, it is all there in the regs..... Archerysniper
One buck state wide no matter what if you look through some past threads in the deer hunting section you will find some answers
bassNspear
so if you shoot a doe durning the shot gun season, then you can still shoot a buck in muzzy, but if you shoot a buck in shot gun season, you have to shoot a doe in muzzy? 96trigger
Yes, as long as you are in a managed or intensive harvest area. Once you shoot A deer in a lottery area, you are done in lottery areas. You can then move to a managed area and shoot two more, or an intensive harvest area and shoot 4 more. you are only allowed one legal buck. You can mix and match areas and license combinations with the seasons, but you can't go over the maximum # of 5 deer/year. For example. I would love to go Muzzleloader hunting this year, but I can't becasue I shot two deer in a managed zone. However, I can still go to my lottery area and shoot a doe with my bow becasue I don't have any access to an intensive harvest area.
