Snowking
im trying to change out the rear pads on my 99 polaris explorer, but cant get the pistons to slide back into the caliper. is there a tool i need? i thought if i loosed the bleeder and took an ajustable plyers with the old brake pad it would move em back in but it didnt work. any help? thanks chad
jeffreyd
only do one side at a time. take an old pad and use a c clamp and slowly depress the piston back in. if you have both sides loose it will only go back and forth.
Snowking
the problem is that there is only a half inch between the two pistons and i cant get a c clamp inbetween them
Hafnutz
You could crack open the bleeder screw and insert something between the old pads and pry them apart that way. Might be a little messy and you will have to bleed the brakes when you are done. But it will make it easier to move the piston back.
Snowking
so i custom made a c clamp to fit into the opening and moved one in. but the other one isnt moving at all. possible that its stuck? might have to take off the lines and move this project to the bench. Phred52
AHH snowking....If I'm not mistaken, one of those pads are in a fixed position. Should be the one opposite the piston. Phred52
Snowking
i think the pistion wasnt square in the hole. ended up spliting the caliper on the bench and useing the bench vice.
