drakerebel
How does everyone cover their spear? the spears that i had given to me just came with some chunks of wood that the tines were stuck into. where i have looked i really haven't seen anything of this sort but perhaps that someone has some inginuity and made a slick cover. .....or maybe to liven the conversation up, has your tines ever stuck something that you never meant them to??? slovene
I went to a craft store in Duluth (Michael's) and found a small block of craft foam. Stuck the spear in the first time and hasn't really loosened up ever since. Tines/points stay sharp, although I sharpen them a couple times a season anyway.Cheap, inexpensive way to cover up your spear. Used to use a wood block many years ago, but like the foam better. I agree. Pink (or blue) Rigid Foam Insulation works great too... and it's Hillbilly approved!!!

mnguy152
i have used wood block with holes drilled, but have seen red water hose split lenght ways
drakerebel
ya, i like the idea of using wood. but i'd have to get fancy and break out the router and misc tools and such. i have time to do this since someone's blowing hot air and keeping the ice off the lakes but, i'm also thinking of using the thermo-former and making a hinged cover with rubber inserts to encompass the tines when closed. how do i apply for a "Hilly-Billy" patent???
