TR21
How many of you watched or saw the highlights of the Florida, Georgia game where Spikes, after the ball carrier was down, dug his fingers into the face mask and tried to gouge the runners eyes? For this infraction Urban Meyer, coach of Florida, says thats not the type of player he is and its an emotional game and sits Spikes the first half of the Vanderbilt game this weekend. So he gets a half game sit for trying to possibly blind somebody. Absolutely ridiculous punishment. IMO he is basically telling the player thats it's no big deal. Mr.Seaguar
The NCAA is a total crock. The punishment never fits the crime. Dez Bryant, Ligette from Oregon, the list never ends. Florida won the natl champ last year so whatever they decide is fine with the NCAA. I honestly think this is a fair punishment, but it really wouldnt matter, the NCAA would go along with whatever Meyer said.
Big Dave2
Just think if it had been a Georgia player eye gouging Tim Tebow like that? The NCAA, the SEC and god himself would have all punished that player. What a punishment he received, out for HALF of a game against Vandebilt a team with 2 wins so far on the year. jeffreyd
It just goes to show that while the NCAA, SEC and BCS as a whole are a sham. The Oregon player who hit the other guy first of the year is going to possibly be reinstated this week. This comes after the school, coach and Pac 10 said that the single game suspension was not enough. So they bench him for the year but now he has met "the requirement" of the coach. Should that satisfy the commitment that the public, Pac 10, and NCAA have set out? I do not think so. If it is a matter of getting these guys enough playing time to make the draft, then clearly we as the followers need to stand up and tell all of the leagues enough. There needs to be a clean line drawn in the sand from the NCAA that you will not be allowed to do these things and if you do, this is the punishment. Why are we leaving it to the judgement of only one person, the coach? I am on my soapbox. Sorry
