chippy
Has the rut started yet? Went up to the cabin this weekend to fix my stand, and didn't see any scrapes or rubs. Though I did find a huge track of a nice deer about 30 yards away from my stand. Drenched a Trails End 307 wick and left it around the area. bearslayer
Was up last weekend, not much for sign at all. Found 1 scrape and 1 rub, that's it. Usually lots more this time of year.
Borch
I was in 156 just acrossed the freeway from 183 and only saw a couple of small rubs and no scrapes. Lots of sign otherwise though.
Odonata
I hunt 183 just south of Wrenshall. Saw a few ground scrapes already, despite the rain, and a few rubs. One gagger sized, things are getting cranked up!
chippy
I'm getting excited! Looks like it's going to be great weather this weekend. I'm shooting on the eastern side of 35E on the Moose Lake exit.
certified jumbo
I've been hunting 183 almost every wkd since opener of bow. There is plenty of buck sign, we've seen lots of deer since the season has started. The rubs and scrapes didn't pick up until early last week though. Saw lots of bucks moving during daylight hours last wkd. We saw 3 shooters and I was fortunate to harvest one on Sat. night. For being a lottery area, there seems to be a lot of deer. But i guess it will mean more deer for next year, thats good.Keep me posted on your 183 hunts.
Odonata
Does anyone know why we could have taken up to 5 deer last year and this year it's lottery?Going to glass the field tonight, will report anything interesting.
bearslayer
I'm pretty sure last year it was a mangement area, not an intensive harvest zone. Anyways, every zone around 183 is managed or intensive, guess 183 must be a special area. Been seeing lots of deer bowhunting, just haven't stuck one yet. chippy
I'm not quite sure why this year it is a lottery..I can see that the deer numbers have gone down though.. on our property. Not as abundant as previous years.
Odonata
Saw 32 deer on the field yesterday. No guff. Can't wait for Saturday. Anyone in 183 hunt near 23 and Wrenshall?
