Wheel house floor

I am ready to think about insulating the floor in my wheel house. It presently has 3/4" treated plywood. I saw in an earlier post that someone recomended putting down a layer of foam (over the existing floor)and then a second layer of plywood. My question is do you need to "farme" in the floor over the existing plywood, or do you just glue down the foam and put the second layer of plywood over the foam? Would it make any difference if 4 wheelers would be transported in the wheel house? House is 8 X 16.

Thanks for any help

duk- i have a 8x12 wheeler and i used 3/4 plywood then built a "frame" out of 2x2's on that then used 2 inch foam ant then covered it with 1/2 plywood it made for a very warm and sturdy floor i dont know if it would have had to be that way but i have a 4-wheeler and didn't want to take the chance of it not being sturdy enough

i would also say to put down 2x2's especially if wheelers will be parked. its going to make for a heavy floor though. what do you have underneath the current plywood? open frame?? i would take a look at getting the underside spray foamed. That way you add insulation without much weight. find someone with a lift, or forlift to get it up in the air to spray.

I went with the spray foam option to insulate the floor of my newest project. I had a spray foam company do it, and it cost me around $275. It's closed cell foam and it is extremely durable. I would reccommend this option. I have, however, done several houses with the "sandwich" method you mentioned. That worked fine too. Use studs to firm it up, or it will get a little spongy on you. Good luck!
