Yes, it is a good unit for the price. Not having a color screen is a drawback but other than that it functions well.

The basemap in the H2O is not detailed at all. To see things like brushpiles for fishing and roads/trails for hunting depends on which map card (or cards) you are using, and if that detail is on the map cards. LakeMaster and Navionics are the cards guys use for fishing, and I use LakeMaster for hunting too because it shows roads, waterways, etc. If you're looking for something to map public lands and things like that there might be better option than LakeMaster and for sure better than Navionics.

The H2o and the H2oC are the standards for handhelds for the fishing industry. With the new Endura series (which currently have no maps except the base maps), there are many good deals on the both the grayscale and color units of the H2o. Do some looking around and you may find some better deals.

For mapping, Navionics and LakeMaster are both very good lake maps but if you are looking for an all around program for hunting, fishing, traveling, hiking and biking, look at the TRAX series from Kirsch's Outdoor Products. NDTRAX for North Dakota, MNTRAX for Minnesota and MTTRAX for Montana. Fishing Minnesota will be carrying this product in their store soon.

Good unit, but I don't think I'd spend that much on one. Look around on auction sites and online classifieds, and you should be able to find a new or lightly used unit for less. Also, don't forget the other iFinder units like the Hunt, Explorer, Expedition since they'll work just as well or better depending on the features you use.

I use a H20C and LOVE it. After fishing one winter with it I got a HDSfor the boat. The H20 W/Lakemaster stays in my truck and is used on the ice/in the woods/and in friends boats. Well worth the money IMO. The lakemaster has some great detail on the lakes i fish as well as WMAs, Parks, and state forests.
